After weeks of doing demand feeding to get the girls to gain as much weight as possible, we're in the process of trying to switch to a schedule. I've been going crazy trying to keep up with everything - especially when George is at work - and it seems that a schedule would be the best way to make sure the twins get what they need and I get what I need: sleep. So far, though, it's not exactly going to plan. Trying to get two very different babies on the same schedule is a challenge and a half.
Izzy tends to be the more mellow one of the two. She does cry, but her cries are normally softer. More than anything, she's the grunter (which is a sign of wind). Adriana, though, is much more fussy and wants to be held all of the time. If I had more hands, I wouldn't mind quite so much, but the guilt you feel when both babies are crying/needing attention and you can only tend to one is sometimes unbearable. I've been trying to strike a balance between going to them right away and letting them cry for a bit. I keep asking George if I can pick them up - he generally tells me no, to wait for a bit. Work in progress ...
A very chilled out Isabella. I recently read in Oprah magazine that breast milk contains substances similar to cannibis. Maybe that's why she's so mellow after a feed sometimes ...
Adriana had just finished having one of her massive crying sessions. She gets herself so worked up! (And Mommy gets worked up, too.)
Poor Isabella has had a reaction to her BCG vaccine. It's apparently completely normal and fine, but it actually burst last night around 3am. Mommy panicked, but luckily Farmor was on hand to clean it up and put a dressing over it. Hopefully it'll heal soon!
We also just had a visit from Sam, the health visitor. She just chatted with us for a bit, answered some questions, calmed my nerves and weighed the girls. Isabella is now 8lbs 6oz, and Adriana is 8lbs 4oz. Growing girls!
Off to do a bit of online shopping for groceries and take care of the girls. Hope you're all well!
